World premiere at the Security 2006: at the world’s most important international trade fair for security engineering and fire protection systems, the German security engineering company HAVERKAMP from Münster will be demonstrating exclusively its very latest development – the retreofittable digital fence sensor system MicroGARD. As a further development, MicroGARD makes yet another decisive addition to the long list of advantages: the newly-developed protocol-based hardware and software interfaces can be used in combination with other makes of cameras and management systems.

MicroGARD sets new standards

 

MicroGARD allows the spot-on detection of an intruder within 3 meters as well as an exact verification of an alarm in the form of a graphic PC evaluation. The fence sensor MicroGARD uses the new protocol-based hardware and software interfaces to control the exact spot of any unwelcome incident. “This further development will make it easier for our customers to decide on retrofitting existing fencing with MicroGARD as the system can be integrated into superior security management systems, and so avoids the appearance of being simply an insulated solution”, explained managing directors of the MicroGARD system providers HAVERKAMP, Bernward Altmeppen and Ulrich Haverkamp.

With the ever-growing importance of the perimeter security sector, especially regarding increased demand for retrofittability, HAVERKAMP’s holistic approach represents yet another new step in becoming the perfect system. According to the feedback given by many customers on its practical use, MicroGARD has already been setting standards ever since its launch. MicroGARD can be set up by HAVERKAMP on existing wire-netting, grid matting, wire and expanded metal fencing whereby a digital sensor cable and the hardware components are attached to the inner side of the fence. This system with its integrated power supply transfers quasi the signals from the pulse time-delay measurements of a BUS-based system. The time-consuming and costly installation of power and data cables is therefore not required. In contrast to analogue systems, the MicroGARD digital technology is so exact that it will detect to within three meters where a fence has been forcefully or cut open, climbed over or where the system has been sabotaged.
Another MicroGARD plus point: compared with analogue microphone cables, the digital sensorics considerably reduce the number of unwelcome false alarms because the system software allows different sections of the fence to be individually calibrated.
During installation, an analysis is made of the stretch of fence to be monitored then a fine adjustment is made to allow, for example, several alarm incidents to be determined.
MicroGARD provides two ways of verifying an alarm: either a graphical evaluation or – and this is new – through trouble-free coordination with existing camera and management systems. Put in a nutshell - the surprise effect is no longer on the side of the intruder - and that's for sure!
