HAVERKAMP – the business division involved in sun protection and film technology: over the past three decades, HAVERKAMP GmbH has developed a reputation as an innovator in film technology and the processing of special films. The international company, based in the Westphalian city of Münster, develops sun and UV protection systems, visors, blinds and anti-splinter – both for private residential use as well as for office workspaces and exhibition spaces. HAVERKAMP has developed a complete range of different films and film curtain systems for almost every application. Film systems for special uses such as facade protection (e.g. anti-vandalism films) as well as films which absorb noise supplement the comprehensive range of products. At the same time, the company links the respective current statutory specifications with the latest scientific findings as well as current technology related to ergonomic workspace fittings with modern architectural requirements.
HAVERKAMP: Innovator in film technology and the processing of special films
The special films developed by HAVERKAMP protect against UV radiation, onlookers and the heat of the sun. The films prevent the effects of glare on computer workstations and even protect against attacks and burglary. These permanent film solutions from HAVERKAMP´s OPALFILM® series with a large selection of different types of film can be applied to nearly all windows and facades – regardless of the type of window and the size of the glass panes. In addition, HAVERKAMP integrates its premium and sophisticated films into different sun screens and blind systems: roller blinds, vertical blinds and panel screens of the OPALVARIO® series. The know-how developed in Münster with both special functional films and variable systems thus enables systems to be developed for almost any conceivable problem situation, both on and in the building. As Ulrich Haverkamp, Managing Director and founder of HAVERKAMP, stresses, "With our systems, protection from glare and heat is no longer an optical protagonist of a facade, but assumes a purely functional character - just as architects want."
Among experts, HAVERKAMP’s film technology has been recognised as outstanding. Through one single OPAL-FILM® film, the company, which conducts its own research, is in a position to enable practically any combination of the characteristics which are required to be realised; e.g. invisible UV protection or combined visual protection, anti-glare protection and protection from glass fragments or alternatively, combined sun protection, UV protection and anti-glare protection. The standard OPALFILM® range is made up over 50 types of film in different colours, reflection levels and light transmission levels.
HAVERKAMP special films are even available against vandalism attacks. As such, many shops, museums and private households protect their valuables, goods, exhibits and items on display, permanently, effectively and always unobtrusively – both against burglars and vandalism attacks as well as against the effects of fading and overheating. As Bernward Altmeppen, Managing Director of HAVERKAMP GmbH, explains "We place a lot of emphasis on making sure that our systems, whether in the work place or at home, are adjusted to the interior design of each room and as such, are as inconspicuous as possible."
HAVERKAMP’s range of products also include the noise-absorbing special film OPALMICROSORBER®. This can also be integrated into the variable sun protection and anti-glare systems and has a positive effect on room acoustics. A special micro perforation of the films reduces reflected sound and reverberation time in the room.
HAVERKAMP’s protective films are fitted by the company’s in-house trained fitting teams. In most cases fitting takes place on-site without the glass panes having to be removed. This procedure ensures that the day-to-day work of a company is not unduly disturbed and also that there are no adverse affects in the private domain. The high level of competence of the company’s carefully selected sales and fitting associates is ensured by HAVERKAMP through its own training at the company’s headquarters in Münster.
Just one example from HAVERKAMP's long list of references: In a three-year development period, the film specialist has realised a spectacular energy saving project with E.ON Ruhrgas AG. HAVERKAMP installed corresponding OPALFILM® films with an optimised, scratch-resistant and weather-proof surface coating in order to ensure long-term durability.
At the same time, the Münster-based company has not only optimised all of the 1600 sq. metre glass surface of the E.ON headquarters in Essen in terms of the technical aspects of climate with comparatively little time and effort, but has also retained the optics of the building and the tough regulations which apply to the workplace and computer workstations. A result which attracted attention in the construction industry: The film saves energy many times over, i.e. the energy which is used in its production. At the same time, the HAVERKAMP film protects against solar radiation without reducing the incidence of light too much. After all, rooms should not be too dark in the winter months either. In addition, the E.ON staff have the option of individually controlling the light conditions at their respective workplaces through existing variable anti-glare systems in form of vertical blinds.
