It only takes a few seconds to smash a car's single-pane (toughened) safety glass window and make off with the valuables from inside the car. Windows fitted with an appropriate automotive film display high stability in the face of such attack. The glass breaks but it remains in place in the frame, thus preventing loss of the vehicle's integrity. Used in conjunction with a special window curvature, it is considerably more difficult to penetrate the interior, and doing so would also cause considerable noise.
Applying a retrofit coating of SL® automotive shatter protection film reduces the risk of smash and grab theft, vandalism, thrown objects and other attacks. If the glass breaks, the pane is held in the frame by the film, and the danger of airborne glass splinters and risk of direct injury is minimised.
