ClickFilm^® PDLC Film - Flexible Privacy Protection in the VIP Area

The Facility

The Chemnitz Ice Arena is located in the northwest of the city and is a major destination for ice sports enthusiasts. With a seating capacity of 3,850, the arena offers plenty of space for spectators to watch the home games of the “Chemnitz Crashers” regional league team. In addition to ice hockey, the ice rink is also open to the public: From October through March, the ice surface is available for public skating.

The Current Requirement

The ice rink’s VIP lounge offers spectators an exclusive opportunity to enjoy hockey games in a first-class atmosphere. To meet the various usage requirements, a flexible, temporary privacy screen is to be installed for the lounge’s glass surfaces. During games, an unobstructed view of the ice rink must be ensured so that guests can fully follow the action on the ice. For special occasions, such as corporate parties or private events, it should be possible to activate the privacy screen. This is particularly useful when, for example, public ice skating is taking place at the same time, to ensure the privacy of VIP guests.

The Solution

To meet the diverse usage requirements of the space, the switchable HAVERKAMP ClickFilm^® film was installed. This innovative solution allows for flexible adjustment of visibility: at the push of a button, the film can be switched from transparent to opaque. The HAVERKAMP film thus enables optimal use of the space both as an exclusive spectator area and as a private venue for events.
