PROFILON® protective films prevent dangerous injuries from flying glass splinters in the event of glass breakage and at the same time protect against break-ins
Retrofittable safety film from German manufacturer HAVERKAMP protects against flying fragments from ball bomb explosions
After last New Year's Eve, the misuse of so-called ball bombs is once again at the center of public debate. And rightly so: New Year's Eve 2025 showed repeatedly what these firework balls can do when used improperly. It is not for nothing that ball bombs may only be purchased from licensed pyrotechnicians at specialized manufacturers and are not available over the counter. The reason for this is the enormous explosive force and the significantly higher explosive mass than legal fireworks.
The pressure wave that accompanies the detonation destroys glass fronts and window panes. The shards of glass that fly around at high speed are extremely dangerous for people. The risk of injury is high. In Berlin-Neukölln, the blast wave from a single ballistic bomb damaged the windows of four residential buildings and three vehicles. In 2024, a ball bomb detonated on the street in front of a fitness center. According to the owner later, it was pure coincidence that no one was inside behind the large windows. The glass panes were completely destroyed and the glass splinters were thrown into the room by the shock wave.
Glass fronts can be secured preventively with PROFILON® safety film
Shop windows of retailers, glass fronts of offices or cafés, glass doors in entrance areas of fitness studios, hotels and commercial businesses then become a risk of injury. With this in mind, the safety and film specialists at HAVERKAMP have developed a highly effective and easy-to-install solution: safety films called PROFILON®. These prevent flying splinters and thus minimize the risk of injury.
Retrofittable shatter and burglary protection without replacing windows
The films are a comparatively inexpensive retrofit solution that can be installed on single or insulating glass in vulnerable areas at any time. Windows do not need to be replaced. Trained specialists carry out the installation. This does not disrupt normal day-to-day operations or customer service. The PROFILON® protective films are also transparent, flame-retardant and impact-resistant, thus protecting against burglary. As soon as the film is installed, it is effective. In the event of a detonation, it prevents dangerous flying splinters because it holds the shattered pane in the frame and binds the glass splinters. Manufacturer HAVERKAMP produces security films in different resistance classes and for different requirements.
Effectiveness is certified. Numerous companies have already been retrofitted.
The company has not only developed these films, but has also tested, certified and used them for many years. The specialists can prove their effectiveness on the basis of numerous test certificates. HAVERKAMP protects companies in the banking sector, KRITIS companies, government buildings and many global players, as well as numerous tradespeople, jewelry stores and retailers. HAVERKAMP regularly demonstrates its functionality and effectiveness in blast and simulated break-in tests on its own premises.
The protective films can be combined with other features on request, for example with integrated privacy or sun protection. As a manufacturer, HAVERKAMP can respond to individual requirements during production and advises its customers personally.
Film saved lives in an explosives attack in Oslo
The fact that HAVERKAMP films can actually save lives was proven in a devastating explosives attack in Oslo's government district in 2011. Eight people lost their lives in the immediate vicinity of the attack. Everyone in the adjacent buildings, whose glass fronts were secured with PROFILON® film, survived.
HAVERKAMP sales representative Miroslaw Tatara presents: In the event of a blast wave caused by the explosion of ball bombs, the safety film applied by manufacturer HAVERKAMP prevents flying shards of glass, which can be life-threatening for people. The film binds the splinters, holds the glazing in the frame and thus prevents the most serious injuries.
During an explosives attack in Oslo's government district in 2011, everyone in the adjacent buildings survived, partly because the glass fronts were protected with PROFILON® film. The glazing of the numerous windows was bound in the frame and the life-threatening flying shrapnel was prevented by the protective film.
Manufacturer and film developer HAVERKAMP produces its safety films in the company's own factories at its headquarters in Münster (Westphalia). Here, the company also drives forward innovative developments through its own research.
