Film developer HAVERKAMP at glasstec 2024 in Düsseldorf

October 2024

Focus on switchable films with a positive climate footprint

Film developer and innovation driver HAVERKAMP will be presenting its latest interlayer and retrofit functional films at this year's glasstec from October 22 - 25, 2024. The manufacturer will be focusing in particular on smart-technology films for the building and automotive sectors, which are a real competitor to solar control glass. The innovative film solutions, which HAVERKAMP produces in its own factories, will be on display in Hall 10, Stand G22.

Film specialist HAVERKAMP will also be presenting its latest product developments at this year's glasstec, which takes place in Düsseldorf from October 22 to 25, 2024. At stand G22 in hall 10, the company will be showcasing its entire range of classic, high-quality sun protection, safety and functional films as well as the entire innovative range of switchable films to an international trade audience. These not only make it possible to individually adjust light transmission and privacy protection, but also to manually regulate heat and glare.

To transfer these properties to its film systems, HAVERKAMP uses various technologies based on power supply, in particular ISPD and PDLC. In recent years, the company has specialized in the development and production of switchable films and is a driver of innovation in this field.

Latest product development ClickFilm® Dynamic is ahead of solar control glass
The latest product development is a solar control film called ClickFilm® Dynamic, whose transparency can be easily and continuously adjusted using ISPD technology (intelligent suspended particle device technology). The VLT of the slightly tinted blue films can be controlled via a sensor and can be individually adjusted.

This not only makes many areas of life and work much easier, but the product also has a number of advantages over the solar control glass that has been commonly used to date. "In summer, I can keep the sun out thanks to the individual control. The rooms stay cooler and the air conditioning systems are relieved. In winter, however, I can remove the tint from the films and use the heat from the sunlight to save on heating costs. We have therefore developed an egg-laying wool-milk sow with a positive climate balance," says Ulrich Haverkamp, owner of the company of the same name.

Wide range of applications for architecture and automotive
Switchable films that change their aggregate state when supplied with electricity create a wide range of applications in the architecture and automotive sectors - from use in the glass production process for buildings as interlayer films to use in panoramic glass roofs in the automotive sector. The new films are currently on the market as interlayer films for the glass production process. HAVERKAMP has been researching a variant for retrofitting existing glass surfaces for some time and is on the verge of a breakthrough.

Lecture at glasstec: Ulrich Haverkamp on "glass trends live"

HAVERKAMP repeatedly attracts attention with its innovative in-house product developments. In his presentation at glasstec on October 23 at 10:50 a.m. in Hall 10, Stage 1, Ulrich Haverkamp will explain how the various electrochromic, ISPD and PDLC technologies differ from one another and how the company manages to make use of these properties for smart technology films.
